Census 2027 results
Status (checked 4 October 2026): no Census 2027 figures have been released. The government has said only that data will be made available in the shortest possible time.
What 2011 suggests
In 2011, counting ended on 28 February 2011 and provisional population totals came out on 31 March 2011, about a month later, putting India at 1,21,01,93,422. The detailed Primary Census Abstract followed on 30 April 2013. Census 2027 is digital, so the gap may be shorter; nothing official says so.
What will come first
If 2027 follows 2011: provisional totals for India, States and districts (population, sex ratio, literacy, child population) first; then the Primary Census Abstract for every village and town; then the detailed tables.
Where it will appear here
On the pages that already exist: India, every State page and every district page. The headline figure switches from the projection or estimate to the census figure, marked “Census 2027 provisional”. Until ORGI publishes, this site shows no Census 2027 numbers; leaked or unofficial counts are never used.
